This powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body and has a dark tip. The tip has a paneled end with raised ring to secure a strap. The body of the horn has a engrailed scrimshaw border at the neck. The horn is scrimshawed with a map of New York and the Hudson River Valley with assorted forts and points of interest listed. The horn measures 13" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. A iron staple is fitted to the base of the horn. Small iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard.
