This Pedersoli Kodiak Express rifle is stocked in walnut with a checkered straight wrist and forearm. The .50 caliber barrels are 28" long. Locks are finished bright with engraved bear scene and scroll designs. The stock and ramrod pipe have sling swivel lugs. This double rifle is used with minor handling marks. Both bores are bright and have been well maintained. The 13-1/2" and 14-1/4" length of pull should fit todays average shooter. The rifle weighs 10.8 pounds.
The 28" blued barrels are .50 caliber, rifled with a 1 in 56" twist for a patched round ball. The bores are bright and have been well maintained. The elevated bead front sight ramp is mounted to the rib. Two folding leaf rear sights are mounted at the breech. Each rear sight is individually adjustable for elevation and windage. The rear sight is mounted with a Phillips head screw, which is a replacement. The top of the left barrel is marked Kodiak cal .50 and the right is marked Trail Gun Armory Houston, Texas, near the breech. The blue barrel finish has a few marks from handling.
The walnut stock is checkered at the wrist and the forearm, and shows only a few minor handling marks. Fitted with a blued steel buttplate, the flat surface will help absorb the recoil from the .50 caliber double barrels. The long tang is finished bright with engraved designs. The rear two screws are properly spaced to accept our Creedmoor Vernier 3" tang sight. However, most hunters prefer the open sights as issued, when hunting big game. A single wedge key retains the barrel to the forearm. The wedge key allows you to quickly dismount the barrels, without using tools. The hooked breech allows for easy cleaning of the barrels, without risk of wetting the stock. We note that the barrel underlug with clearance hole for the ramrod is bent out of round. The wedge key still fits correctly.
The long trigger plate is finished bright while the triggerguard is finished to a dark blue. The ramrod entry pipe is also finished to a dark blue. The rear sling swivel stud is securely mounted in the buttstock, while the forward swivel is mounted to the rear ramrod pipe. The stock has a brass initial plate that has aged to a mellow patina from long storage. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass loading tip. The opposite end is fitted with a brass tip threaded 10-32 to accept cleaning and loading accessories. The stock is shaped with a cheek piece for a right hand shooter.
The Pedersoli Express Rifle bar locks are engraved with a bear scene and scroll designs. The locks and triggers function as they should. Stainless steel 1/4-28 nipples for No. 11 caps are fitted. We offer replacement nipples for No. 11 caps, or the large musket caps, which are a popular choice on these rifles if you plan to hunt in cold weather.
