This scrimshawed flat powder horn has a decorative border around the base with a scrimshaw Federal eagle with a clutch of arrows and an olive branch. The left hand side has a scrimshaw heron clutching a fish. The horn has a brown tip with a patina finish on the base. The neck of the horn has a raised lip to secure a strap, but otherwise is a smooth transition into the body. A iron staple is mounted in the base. The horn measures 9-3/4" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a lanyard to prevent loss.
