Made in the USA, by Thompson Center Arms, the PATRIOT pistol is a favorite target pistol of percussion match shooters. No longer manufactured, this factory finished Thompson Center PATRIOT pistol is the earlier production before the introduction of the brass forend cap and ramrod entry pipe. Instead it has a simple brass insert in the rounded forend to act as a ramrod entry pipe. The percussion lock is factory engraved, color case hardened, and it features a hefty coil spring, for fast lock time. This pistol appears to have seen little use and is in excellent condition.
The .45 caliber rifled bore has a bright clean bore, with fast twist rifling for patched .440" round ball. The 9" barrel assembly is 13/16" octagon. The barrel has a hooked breech fitted, allowing easy cleaning. Simply withdraw the wedge key with thumb pressure, remove the ramrod, lift out the barrel, and unscrew the nipple. Clean the barrel in hot soapy water after each day's use, to maintain this pistol. The rear sight has a square notch, preferred by serious target shooters. The sight has adjustment screws for windage and elevation. The front sight is a target globe, open at the top, for best lighting. The inner post presents a square blade image in a square notch, for best sight picture. We can supply the balls, patches, and supplies you need.
Stocked in American black walnut, the stock is factory finished in a smooth nice varnish. The buttcap, triggerguard, ramrod entry pipe, and flared ramrod tip are polished brass which has aged to a mellow patina. The T/C Patriot has a unique double set trigger feature. The front trigger latches the set trigger, and the rear trigger releases the hammer, making it very comfortable to shoot. The tiny screw behind the triggerguard bow is the adjustment screw to control trigger release. You may increase or decrease trigger release tension, using a hex wrench. The percussion lock is color case hardened with bright as-new colors. The coil spring lock has a strong mainspring for fast lock time. A fly detent allows this percussion lock allows it to work perfectly with the double set triggers. The breech is fitted with a 12-28 threaded factory stainless steel nipple.
