Stocked in imported walnut, this .50 caliber percussion rifle has a 15/16" octagon 28" barrel to give it a modest weight. Trimmed in brass furniture with a large bow single trigger. This rifle was factory assembled. The lock is color case hardened in mottled colors. All brass furniture has aged to a mellow patina. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. Weighing in at 8.6 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 13-3/4" making it well suited for today's average size shooter.

The .50 caliber, 28" long barrel is finished to a deep blue color. The barrel is rifled with a 1 in 48" twist to shoot either patched round balls, or conical bullets. The bore is bright is and has been well maintained. The barrel is fitted with a square partridge style front sight, and semi buckhorn rear sight. All of the factory markings can be found on the top three flats of the barrel at the breech. A factory safety warning is found on the bottom left oblique flat just ahead of the nose cap. The blue barrel finish was a few light scratches from use.

The stock has been finished to a medium brown tone. The stock has a few scattered handling marks from use. The brass furniture has aged to a dark mellow patina. The beaver tail cheek piece is shaped for a right hand shooter. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a brass tip threaded to accept 10-32 cleaning and loading accessories.

The hooked breech allows the barrel to be easily dismounted for cleaning without risk of wetting the stock with water containing black powder residue. To dismount the barrel, put the lock on half cock, withdraw the ramrod, drift the key past the underlug, and the barrel can be lifted from the barrel channel for ease of cleaning. Remove the nipple and place the breech end of the barrel in a bucket of soapy water. Run a wet patch down and up the bore, the pumping action will flush all the fouling from the barrel. Once the bore is clean, run a dry patch down the bore to pick up any moisture followed by an oily patch. Dry and oil the exterior then reassemble the rifle.

The factory color case hardened percussion lock is in excellent condition and functions as it should. The breech is fitted with a 6-.75mm threaded nipple. Order our #RLP-S if you need a spare. The single trigger provides a smooth release of the lock and the large trigger bow allows for a gloved finger when hunting in cold weather.

Not too long, not too heavy, not too valuable to carry in the woods while stalking game, this rifle will become your favorite hunting partner. This is an ideal rifle for hunting white tail deer, mule deer, or elk, especially during specific muzzle loading seasons. This rifle has a bright well maintained bore.
