Lyman bullet mold, for .45 caliber Enfield Volunteer rifle. Nominally casts .452/.454" diameter bullet in pure lead with a 450 grain weight.
Cast this bullet of pure lead, and apply our #LUBE-SPG bullet lubricant, by hand, when shooting these in your Parker Hale Whitworth, or Enfield Volunteer Rifle, with hex bore, or with conventional rifling.
Or, cast this bullet of lead + tin alloy, when shooting these in your antique .44-77 or .44-90 Sharps, Rolling Block, or similar antique .44 caliber rifle, with oversize groove diameter. We recommend #LUBE-SPG with black powder, or #LEE-ALOX-S with black powder in hot weather, or with smokeless powder loads.
This bullet mold is single cavity, steel blocks only, to fit Lyman's large handles, sold separately.
Lyman's 450 grain solid base bullet design is reproduced from originals used over 100 years ago.
These precision mold blocks are made in the U.S.A. and tend to cost a bit more than other brands. They are nice quality. Special steel alloy mold blocks hold heat, for even casting temperature.
Steel blocks almost never wear out, if properly stored to prevent rust. We recommend treatment with Birchwood Casey's Barricade Rust Preventative, after each use, to keep them in perfect condition.
