Gove-Tomahawk-Head: The investment cast head is 4140 steel. The pipe bowl is hollow, with a cast hole through to the eye. Use this as a guide to cross-drill into the handle. The head has an overall length of 8", the edge is 2-3/8". The head is as-cast. It will require de-burring and polishing.
#Handle-Gove-M-Drilled: Our curly maple Carlos Gove pattern tomahawk handle is 22" long with a swell along the bottom of the handle. The handle is drilled full length for use with a pipe tomahawk. The tapered eye measures 1-7/16" tall by 1-1/8" wide.
#Book-IHAPT: This 8-1/2 x 11" soft cover booklet of 40 pages, covers many different aspects of building replica 18th and early 19th century pipe tomahawks. Included are various techniques for putting holes in handles, pouring pewter inlays, installing silver inlays, and fitting up the heads. For those who are intimated by the undertaking of building a muzzleloading firearm, a pipe tomahawk can be a good first project.
